I need to take more photos. My entire focus on photography has mostly been with instagram lately, which is cool, but it’s kinda closed off and not as serious. Like, I enjoy cell phone photography, but if it’s all for instagram it feels pointless. I need to get more film, but I don’t want to spend much money. My dlsr doesn’t inspire me like it used to. I can take a cool photo with it, but the subject matter is usually bland. It’s easier for me to take photos with film. It usually inspires me more. However, I’m kinda burnt out of creativity in antioch when it comes to photography. I think living in santa cruz will help me regain some creative energy as it will be a new environment for me to take photos in. Also, Santa Cruz might give me a chance to try to get better at street photography. Street photography is kinda uncomfortable to do in Antioch. Small towns in general are kinda awkward for street photography. Then again, Robert Frank traveled around all of the U.S. and took many great photos in small towns. That was in the 50s though. Cameras weren’t as ubiquitous then and I don’t believe people were as concerned about privacy. If anything though, if feel my greatest aspect with photography is with abstractions and interesting perspectives. It’s cool, as you can make something dull cool and interesting.
